The island owes its unique climate (cool summer and soft winter) to the lush vegetation and Ipsario, the highest mountain of Thassos. The mountainous villages have maintained some traditional Hellenic features, while archaeological excavations that take place at the island continuously bring to light important findings. People in Thassos have remained uninfluenced by the contemporary mass tourism and offer true hospitality. The beaches are clean and there is plenty of seafood to enjoy.
